India and England will compete in a three-match ODI series. With the Men in Blue winning the T20I assignment by 4-1, the pressure will be on the visiting side. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will return for the hosts while Joe Root is back in the English side. Kohli and Rohit have had a few difficult months with the bat.
They were walking wickets in the Test series against Australia, with critics demanding their removal from the team across formats. The two veterans have already retired from T20Is, and their performance in the one-day internationals against England and the Champions Trophy will decide their future.
Rohit and Virat have been unstoppable in the fifty-over games over the years, and Parthiv Patel feels the two will leave an impact. “They don’t have to prove anything to anyone. Virat and Rohit are legends of the game and have been performing in international cricket.
“I know they were not in good form in Australia, but they did hard work after returning from the tour. The two competed in Ranji Trophy matches, and this is what players can do to return to form,” he said.
Kevin Pietersen agreed with Parthiv, saying that Virat and Rohit can play for a few more years. “They are great players, and I agree with Parthiv Patel. When I saw Rohit at the start of his career, I knew he would become a special player. Virat has been consistent throughout his career. They are 35 or 36 and I feel they still have a few years of cricket left in them,” he said.
