Rohit Sharma reacted to the verbal slugfest between Jasprit Bumrah and Sam Konstas on Day 1 of the fifth Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground. During the last over, Bumrah was unhappy with Usman Khawaja’s time-wasting tactics. When he urged the batter to carry on, Sam Konstas said something to the speedster from the non-striker’s end, leading to an angry reaction.
The two were stopped by the umpire, and when the Indian captain dismissed Khawaja on the last delivery of the day, Sam was targeted by the visitors.
Rohit was reminded of the incident by Jatin Sapru, and the veteran warned the 19-year-old.
“When our players are quiet, they are quiet, but when you poke them, they will not leave you. Our players are classy and don’t start confrontation. It is better if you concentrate on your game rather than getting involved in unnecessary stuff,” Rohit Sharma said.
He is also backing India to win the game and level the series. “Our batters faced problems on this track, and we know it is not going to be easy for their batters as well. It is important to bowl in the right areas. We did well in the first session and the second session would be crucial for us. This is what Test cricket is all about,” he added.
