Former Australia player Matthew Hayden, who was one of the commentators during the Indian Premier League 2025, spoke to Virat Kohli after Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the trophy for the first time in 18 years. RCB got past the challenge of Punjab Kings by 6 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Kohli, who has been waiting for this moment since 2008, couldn’t control his emotions and was seen crying from the last over of the match. He was proud of efforts of his teammates, the support staff, families and most importantly RCB fans.
Hayden urged Virat to give a message to young players about the importance of Test cricket. The 36-year-old recently announced his retirement from red-ball cricket. After playing 123 Test and scoring more than 9,000 runs, he decided to bid adieu to five-day cricket. The veteran hit 30 hundreds and changed the way India played Test cricket.
“I would urge young cricketers to treat Test cricket with respect. Give your heart and soul to Test cricket. You will feel nice and realize what Test cricket is all about when people will shake hands with you and say you played well. I loved this format a lot and let me tell know that is nothing better than representing your country in Test matches,” Virat Kohli said.
India would travel to England for five-match Test series without one of their top performers. Apart from him, Rohit Sharma has also retired from red-ball cricket.
