Indian cricket legend Virender Sehwag praised Rohit Sharma’s match-winning 70 against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 23, describing it as a display of effortless batting. Sehwag liked how cool and collected Rohit was, which made cricket look easy.
“Rohit Sharma has been in phenomenal form recently. He was unbeaten against Chennai Super Kings and had he repeated it against Sunrisers Hyderabad, his average would have increased. When Rohit is in form, we see different version of him. The team’s position improves, and it becomes easier for the other batters to follow,” Sehwag said.
“He makes the game look effortless, almost as if cricket is a simple sport. He hit boundaries against Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, while it may look easy, there’s a lot of work behind it. He puts a lot of thought process into his approach, and that’s what sets him apart,” he added.
Trent Boult (4/26) and Deepak Chahar (2/26) restricted SRH to 143 runs. Rohit’s 70 off of 46 balls and Suryakumar Yadav led the batting charts for Mumbai.
Earlier, Sehwag had turned against Rohit after his low scores in the initial phase of the tournament.
