All is not well between IPL franchises and ground staff this season, as tensions seem to be rising over pitch preparations and home conditions. At least four franchises have expressed dissatisfaction regarding the pitches provided at their home venues.
According to reports, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had requested a spin-friendly pitch for their home game, but the curator reportedly denied the request. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach Stephen Fleming echoed similar concerns, stating that the team has no control over pitch conditions and is not getting any home advantage.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is also reportedly engaged in a dispute with the Hyderabad Cricket Association over pitch management and other operational issues. Adding to the growing chorus, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) mentor Zaheer Khan recently remarked that his team too is not enjoying any home advantage this season.
In a telling sign of franchise frustration, it even appeared as if the Punjab Kings (PBKS) curator was being indirectly targeted for not aligning with the team’s requirements.
With multiple franchises voicing their displeasure, the issue of pitch control and home advantage has become a talking point in IPL 2025. Watch the video below to understand the issue further.
