Water is one of the most essential elements in our lives. If the water we use daily is not pure, it can cause serious harm to the body. While people often store drinking water carefully, water kept in rooftop tanks for daily chores like bathing and brushing often gets neglected. This water emits a foul odour or develops a green layer, typically moss. Using such water may lead to skin allergies, itching, and even stomach ailments.
It’s often observed that rooftop water tanks get dirty quickly, even if the dirt may not be visible from the outside. After a few days, the water may begin to smell or show a white-green layer. This requires the entire tank to be emptied and cleaned. However, there is a way to naturally maintain the water’s purity over time.
According to experts, mixing this natural ingredient with the water can form a protective barrier, purifying water more effectively than RO systems. This prevents bacteria, fungi, and other contaminants from polluting the water.
Using jamun wood helps prevent moss formation, eliminates foul odours, and even enhances the water’s taste. This makes it suitable for cooking, bathing, and even drinking. A natural balance is maintained in the water, making it difficult for germs to thrive.
After adopting this method, frequent cleaning of the tank is no longer necessary, saving both time and money.
Cost-Effective
Many people believe that water purification requires expensive machines or filters. However, nature offers its own solutions. Placing wood from the jamun (black plum) tree in a rooftop tank helps keep the water clean for extended periods. Jamun wood has antibacterial and antifungal properties, which prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi in the water. As a result, moss or algae doesn’t form, and the tank requires less frequent cleaning.
The phytochemicals released from Jamun wood help eliminate harmful germs and insects. These woods also contain beneficial minerals that mix into the water, making it more nutritious. This also helps regulate the water’s TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) levels.
How To Use
Clean the jamun wood and place it inside the water tank. When cleaning the tank, simply clean the wood as well and place it back in. Jamun wood also has anti-diabetic properties and can help regulate blood sugar levels. It is also believed to boost haemoglobin and prevent various diseases.
