Young spinning all-rounder Shreyanka Patil, with aspirations of winning the World Cup and securing an Olympic gold for the Indian team, is ready to leave her mark on the international cricket stage. Patil, recently called up for the India Women’s WT20I series against England, expressed her topmost goals after a successful stint in domestic and T20 leagues.
In the Women’s Premier League (WPL), playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Patil showcased her prowess with a remarkable batting strike rate of 151.22 and six wickets with her off-breaks. Additionally, she became the first Indian player to participate in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for the Guyana Amazon Warriors, securing nine wickets in four games.
Patil’s call-up to the senior women’s side for the England T20Is reflects her growing stature in the cricketing world.
“I always aim to win the World Cup for India. I want to contribute to the winning team, and I’m actively working towards that goal. When the Olympics take place, I’m determined to secure the gold medal,” she said.
The 21-year-old, despite her success with the ball, acknowledges the need to improve her batting skills.
“I’ve put in a lot of effort into improving my batting. While I may not have showcased it as much in recent matches, I have confidence in my process. I believe I can execute the shots, as I’ve successfully done so before,” she added.
Having learned from cricketing legends like Ellyse Perry, Smriti Mandhana, and Heather Knight during her time in the RCB camp and WPL, Patil values the experience immensely.
Patil’s remarkable performance as the highest wicket-taker in the women’s CPL this year, with nine wickets in five matches, showcased her adaptability to different conditions.
In her cricketing journey, Shreyanka Patil focuses on prioritizing her goals, including winning the World Cup and an Olympic gold, while continuously honing her skills and learning from the best in the game.
