Despite losing six out of 8 matches in IPL 2025, Kolkata Knight Riders CEO Venky Mysore remains optimistic about the team’s chances of making it to the playoffs. After a defeat to the Gujarat Titans, Mysore reminded fans of KKR’s history of comebacks.
With only six points from eight matches and seventh spot in the points table, Mysore pointed to a similar situation in 2014 and 2021, when KKR bounced back in the second half of the season.
“KKR are a team known for its resilience. This is our 18th season, and if you look at our history, we consistently rank among the top three. I always remind new players that in 2014, at the halfway stage, we had won just two games and lost five. But as you know, we went on to win nine consecutive matches, setting an IPL record. After that, we won five more matches in the Champions League, taking the total to 14 straight victories,” Venky Mysore said.
“In 2021, we found ourselves in a similar position, with only two wins and five losses at the midway point, yet we still made it to the final. This just shows that anything is possible in this format, and there are still plenty of matches left,” he added.
He also voiced his trust in the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane and Dwayne Bravo.
“Inspiration can come from many places. We often get too focused on the IPL standings and the results, but when you step back and look at the bigger picture, you realize that life is more than just wins and losses,” Mysore concluded.
